Slackening of the eyelids is very individual and depends upon hereditary factors and many external influences. Operations of the eyelids can be performed separately on upper or lower eyelids, or simultaneously on both eyelids.

Description of the operation

The operation lasts for 1-2 hours and during this excess fat tissue and skin will be removed. It is relatively non-traumatic and is usually performed under local anaesthesia. Anaesthetic drug is injected around the eyelids. It is possible to leave the clinic 1 hour after the surgery performed under local anaesthesia. The eyelids are usually swollen right after the operation. Also haematomas may be present. The eyes are often sensitive to light; therefore, it is recommended to wear eyeglasses. Sutures are usually removed on the 3rd or 4th postoperative day. Complete recover occurs after 2-3 weeks.

The operations are performed by a surgeons Dr. Marika Tenusar and Dr. Inger Viikna
